Travelling with Pets: Supporting Support Dogs

Support Dogs is a national charity dedicated to training specialist assistance dogs to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by some of the most challenging medical conditions. They specialise in three main programmes of work:

  • Epilepsy seizure alert dogs that provide their owner with a 100% reliable warning up to 55 minutes before their seizure
  • Autism assistance dogs that provide safety and facilitate a more socially inclusive life for children affected by autism
  • Disability assistance dog bringing independence to those affected by a wide range of physical disabilities including MS, Cerebral Palsy and fibromyalgia.

How are Travelling with Pets assisting?

Travelling with Pets have been supporting the charity for a number of years including providing equipment for the charity trainee puppies. Puppies like Brenda, who is taking her first steps towards becoming a support dog, training that can take almost two years to complete.
